Body Recovered in Portland after 4-Day Struggle

Members of the security forces have recovered a body from the remote hills of Bellevue District, Portland. Reports are that the deceased went into the hills to hunt hogs where he allegedly lost his footing and fell off a steep cliff.

When 65-year-old farmer, Ronald Franklin went into the remote hills of Portland his goal was to hunt hogs. However while doing this he slipped and fell over a precipice according to police. When his hunting partners were unable to move him, law enforcement officers were called to help recover his body; a task that took four days.

Detective Superintendent Throyville Haughton, said several attempts were made to get into the area but it was difficult, as it took about five hours to walk into the area. He noted that they faced several challenges including rain and overcast weather.

Members of the Army, the local police, and fire department worked with residents in recovery efforts on Thursday, September 30. Cries from his family membered echo across the field as the Portland farmer’s body was lowered, wrapped then carted into the ambulance on site. The family was not able to speak, but DSP Haughton imagines their relief.
