The University of the West Indies (UWI) student who was charged for the alleged torture and kidnapping of his girlfriend made his first court appearance on Thursday. Matthew who is being represented by K.C Peter Champagnie was slapped with three charges regarding the matter Hyde. King’s Counsel, Peter Champagnie, one of the attorneys representing Matthew Hyde, the UWI student who allegedly tortured his girlfriend, says the matter is now before the court and is calling on the public to allow the justice system to run its course. Champagnie says there have been a lot of unfortunate misrepresentations, especially across social media.
Champagnie reiterated some of the rights of the accused, adding the case is now in its most delicate state. Watch the report:
