GOJ Standing With Police Dragged Before Court

Committed to doing more for the men and women who risk their lives for the safety of the masses daily, State Minister for National Security Zayvia Mayne says the government of Jamaica is seeking to help more constables with their legal fees when they are dragged before the courts for matters arising while on duty.

Mayne protests aspects of the policy that limit just how much support the government can render in certain instances for the police while offering legal support for members of the public. He calls the situation unfair.

He went further, to say the government is standing with the Jamaica Constabulary and intends to rectify the issues beyond the interim measure that allows the government to address legal fees.

The State Minister was addressing Jamaica Constabulary Force personnel at a Police Civilian Oversight awards in Manchester Friday. Several police stations in area three were awarded and celebrated for effective management and leadership by the oversight body.
