Last Sunday, April 16, celebrities, soca lovers and party hoppers met on the road for an exciting Road March to end the carnival season. Carnival week featured a series of parties and events and thousands of patrons flocked to each event. The feedback from vendors, and other stakeholders is positive and is a testament to the growth of soca and carnival in Jamaica and the economic benefits attached to both. Event Promoter and Chairman of Xodus Carnival, Kamal Bankay and Executive Director of the Tourism Enhancement Fund, Dr. Carey Wallace, discussed the benefits of Carnival for the Jamaican economy on Sunrise.
