Guyanese President Bullish On Essequibo Border

Guyanese President Dr. Mohammed Irfaan Ali maintains an unwavering stance on his nation’s borders, just days before pivotal talks regarding the Essequibo region in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Despite the historic significance of the upcoming discussions, President Ali stands firm.

Scheduled to meet with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Thursday, President Ali aims to address a longstanding conflict over 70% of Guyana’s land. Notably, he expresses a willingness to engage with the Maduro-led socialist party. This comes in the wake of controversial directives issued by the Maduro-led government to commence mineral exploration in the disputed Essequibo territory.

President Ali asserts that foreign investors remain undeterred by the illegitimate territorial claims, emphasizing confidence in the region’s investment prospects.
