With no place to call home, finding refuge in an abandoned building, one man in East Kingston was covered in rubble when the walls came tumbling down.

Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Emilio Ebanks informed CVM LIVE that they were alerted at around 11:30 pm and upon arrival the fire fighters rushed to his assistance.

“We started to excavate the area as we were told that a gentle man should be under, after doing some amount of excavation we found the gentle man and he was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital by the Police.”

An eyewitness who is employed to a battery shop next door to the property recalls the incident and says that the man has been living on the property for almost a year.

There  are mounting concerns for abandoned and dilapidated buildings across the Corporate Area. Several attempts have been made by CVM LIVE to get a response from the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Council (KSAMC), however, our calls went unanswered. Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for East Kingston Phillip Paulwell has recommended an investigation into the matter.
