The Holness administration has spent $43 million on Senator Kamina Johnson Smith’s campaign for commonwealth secretary-general, for which she was four votes short of beating the incumbent, Baroness Patricia Scotland.

Johnson Smith’s loss sparked much conversation, with many demanding to know how much money was spent on her campaign. With that information now published, CVM LIVE observes mixed reactions. While some complain the figure is too hefty, political commentator Kevin O’Brien Chang insists the senator’s bid and the money spent are justified. 

O’Brien Chang says the only issue he’s identified, is that many often place party above country. A statement from the office of the Prime Minister revealed that of the 43 million, $18.2 million dollars are taxpayers’ funds, while the remaining 25 million was spent by the government on delegation costs. Watch the report below:
