Burke’s election comes after he was elected by the WTA Players’ Council as a WTA Player Board Representative Alternate.

The WTA is the global leader in the women’s professional sport, with more than 1,650 players representing 84 nations competing for a record US$180 million in prize money. Founded in 1973 by the legendary Billie Jean King on the principle of equal opportunity for women in sports, the WTA Tour includes 53 events and 4 Grand Slams spanning across 6 continents, 28 countries and regions.

The 27 year old Burke, now an Attorney, is also a six-time Jamaica Davis Cup National team member and an accomplished collegiate tennis player, representing Brown University between 2010 and 2014, where he played number one singles and doubles. While at the university, Burke achieved the “Rookie of the Year”, a most distinguished award for both the Ivy League and the entire Northeastern United States; a feat only accomplished once before by a Brown tennis player.

“We are excited to have Brandon join the Board and are confident that his expertise in event management, marketing strategy and law will bring invaluable support to the WTA Tour and its players,” said Steve Simon, WTA Chairman and CEO. “I look forward to working with Brandon and the other Board members to drive continued growth for the WTA.”
