A returning resident was shot and killed after feeding his pigs in his backyard farm in the community of bastard cedar walk Petersfield, Westmoreland within the zone of the special operation in the parish. He has been identified as 68 year old retiree Calvin Forrest. His grieving widow recounted the harrowing ordeal.

Mrs Forrest opened the door, and saw two armed men holding her husband at gunpoint, the men then pointed their guns at Mrs Forrest demanding money. Mrs Forrest then managed to close the door and ran off shouting for help.

Mrs Forrest said she then called the police, who were on the scene within 10 minutes. The police on arrival saw Mr Forrest lying on his back in a pool of blood at the back step with a gunshot wound to his forehead, the assailants having made their escape.

The couple had only been in Jamaica for one year.
