In a series of Town Hall meetings across the island, the Local Government and other Government agencies have been working in tandem, to sensitize the public on issues being faced in each parish and in the country.

St. Elizabeth was the third parish visited, where drought mitigation and the threat of coronavirus to the island were among the issues addressed.

The need for water in sections of st. Elizabeth is great, as the parish has been experiencing severe drought conditions, impacting residents and farmers.

Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie says plans are afoot to alleviate the water problems.

The parish will receive a brand new water truck, and more water shops.

Recently McKenzie gave ten 500 gallon water tanks to the parish, which will be distributed to each of the 15 councillors in the municipal corporation.

Over on the Health & Wellness aspect of the meeting, Minister Christopher Tufton assured the residents of the government’s commitment to tackling any epidemic that poses a threat to the country’s welfare.
