More care packages were distributed today from the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) Covid-19 response fund.
Approximately 500 residents living in West Kingston were the recipients. The fund which was created to assist those who have been impacted by the covid-19 outbreak in the island is expected to be an ongoing initiative with individuals receiving care packages every two weeks for the next three months.
Member of Parliament for West Kingston, Desmond Mckenzie lauded the PSOJ for its response towards the Covid-19 fight.
“This will go a far way in helping many residents not just here in Denham Town but across many other communities across the island that will benefit from this programme over the next couple of weeks,” he says.
Also present was the Commissioner of Police, Major General Antony Anderson to assist in the distribution of the care packages to residents.
“This is kinda part of a model that we have been using for a while,” he shares. “I believe that even as we do law enforcement we also have to reach out to communities, build better relations with communities and try and fill those needs that are there.”
The PSOJ Covid-19 response fund seeks to raise $250 million to assist the needy. Though it has not reached that goal, they have already started to give back to those who require support.
