Prime Minister Andrew Holness has disclosed that close to US $1.4 Million was spent on the implementation of the National Identification and Registration System (NIDS).

The Prime Minister says that for the period 2017 to 2019, the total project expenditure was US one million, three hundred and fifty eight thousand, nine hundred and seventy two dollars, or  2% of the NIDS project loan.

The expenditure led to questions by the People National Party (PNP) General Secretary Julian Robinson, on the cost of advertising the program and he questioned whether arrogance played a part in the governments challenge to the NIDS Act.

Holness was negative in his response and said the questions by the General Secretary was a revelation of the lack of understanding of the National Identification System.
