Prime Minister Andrew Holness used his emancipation day address to rally support for the fight against crime and violence across the island.
Mr. Holness singled out enhanced public order as achieving the least sustained success.
The Prime Minister declared his intention to increase the utilization of the Zones of Special Operations as a means to rescue communities that have been trapped under the influence of criminality and inducing young people.
Alluding to a National Partnership Council agreement that calls for the establishment of a dedicated monitoring and reporting mechanism on law, order and public safety embedded in the council, Mr. Holness says it is expected that an agreement can be reached on an appropriate strategy to tackle the crime and violence plaguing the island.
