Panel Discussion

Short Term Crime Suppression and Long Term Strategies

Since the start of 2022 Jamaica has endured almost 5 reported murders a day. As a result, the tension between short term crime suppression and long term strategies to reduce Jamaica’s terrible murder rate continues to constrict. Can both outcomes be achieved? And what accounts for the brutal start to the New Year?

On this panel discussion we are joined by CVM Live Security Contributor and Criminologist Dr. Jason McKay and Chairman of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica’s standing committee on National Security Lieutenant, Commander George Overton.
