Recognizing Racial Discrimination

The protests around racial inequality and racial injustice in the United States of America has inspired a conversation in Jamaica about race and class.

A number of other issues have been raised in this ongoing debate around the legitimacy of our national motto, out of many one people, and the need for the removal of monuments that seem to legitimize our slavery and colonial past.

We are joined by, professor of social history at the University of the West Indies, Verene Shepherd, and in-studio Dr. Ajamu Nangwaya, Cultural Studies Lecturer at the UWI.
