Politics, Gender and Misogyny in Jamaica
Despite a marked increase in women’s representation in Jamaican politics, currently at a record 28.5 percent, according to the, gender parity globally will not be attained for 99 years. Some argue that in Jamaica, the remnants of misogyny are the greatest hindrance to the progress of women in politics, and recently we have seen instances of insensitivity towards women on both sides of the political aisle.
