The Jamaican Parliament: In 2007, then Prime Minister Bruce Golding invited the Opposition to name members to chair select committees of Parliament. This was part of a move to strengthen the effectiveness of the Opposition in the House. But current Prime Minister, Andrew Holness is contending that the PNP in opposition squandered this opportunity.
This conversation takes place in the context of concerns that the Jamaican Parliament is not as productive as it could be and that perhaps we need better planning to ensure that our Parliamentarians deliver more in a parliamentary year.
