With beaches being one of Jamaica’s selling points for tourism, discussions are constantly being had regarding free access for citizens.  Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, says that the redevelopment being done to the Priory Beach, also known as Fantasy Beach, in St Ann, will serve to benefit the people who live in the area.  

Speaking at a town hall meeting in the parish, Bartlett says the redevelopment being done to the beach, will create opportunities, and an inflow of business ventures for entrepreneurs in the space.  

Meanwhile, JUTA operators are concerned with being excluded from the services that will be provided with the increase in tourism benefits that the beach will provide. 

However, Bartlett stressed that while the beach will attract tourists, the redevelopment is not targeted at tourism, but rather the betterment of residents, and citizens in the country.

Once the redevelopment is completed, the minister says the onus is on those who use it, to maintain its pristine condition.  More details here:
