A huge step in the right direction to enable opportunities for persons with disabilities Minister of Labour and Social Security Karl Samuda says persons with disabilities in Jamaica are often treated with discrimination.

While addressing the media launch for persons with disabilities at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel he stressed his decision to revisit the Disabilities Act to better protect members of the disabled community. Lauding the initiative for persons with disabilities he notes the capabilities of persons with special needs should not be under-valued.

The Minister adds the project is already bearing fruit in both the public and private sectors. Minister Samuda says the challenges the community face requires a collaborative approach by all stakeholders to create change.
