Prime Minister Holness Lauds Local Govt For Jamaica’s Resilience

Crediting local government as one of the reasons for Jamaica’s resilience amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Andrew Holness says there is no doubt that the Ministry of Local Government is a crucial part of national development and recovery.

Delivering his message for Local Government Month, during the National Church Service on Saturday, the Prime Minister saluted workers within that ministry. He noted it was through their contribution that several policies were developed to effectively handle the repercussions of the pandemic.

He highlighted the Social Development Commission, for its role in empowering small and medium enterprises that would otherwise disintegrate under the difficulties of the pandemic.

He also notes some of the nation’s most vulnerable were catered to throughout the two years, through the works done by the local government.
