Political Debates and the Electorate – Following the staging of the political debates, there has been a lot of talks about which political party won. The two major political parties got an equal platform to showcase what they have to offer to the people while taking jabs at each other. But there is also the question of… To what extent does the debate influence voter’s decisions?
The first debate between the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Floyd Green, Kamina Johnson Smith, and Dr. Chris Tufton and the Peoples National Party Dr. Dayton Campbell, Lisa Hanna, and Raymond Pryce received the greatest number of viewers of the three. It’s closely followed by the debate between the party leaders Andrew Holness and Dr. Peter Phillips. And the polls have been sounding off on the winner each night. Campaign director of the PNP, Phillip Paulwell says he’s pleased with his party’s position over the three nights.
