Jamaica Braces for triple digits COVID-19 cases – The customary pomp and circumstance associated with Jamaica’s General Election were significantly scaled-down on Thursday due to the Coronavirus, COVID-19 outbreak.
Some voters ditched the large gatherings for social distancing while others stayed away altogether. Now, as the governments hastily reinforce restrictive measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, the public is bracing for an explosion of cases.
The Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) says there was a 37% voter turnout for the 2020 General Election, the lowest ever with at least two parties contesting, many attributing the figures to the Coronavirus outbreak. And as the Govt doubles down on new COVID-19 restrictions, the public is bracing for triple-digit COVID-19 figures.
