St. Ann, Jamaica &ndash; The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has confirmed that one of two men fatally shot during a confrontation with police in Lime Hall, St. Ann, early Tuesday morning was a wanted fugitive.
The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Ricardo Hemmings, otherwise called 'Black Oil,' of Jerusalem Mountain in Grange Hill, Westmoreland. The other man killed in the incident was 29-year-old Jahmari Campbell, also of a Jerusalem Mountain address.
According to the JCF's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), acting on intelligence, a team of lawmen went to a premises in Lime Hall, where they were met with gunfire from armed men. A confrontation ensued, resulting in both men being shot.
Police say a Taurus .45 semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing three rounds was recovered from the scene.
The incident has since been reported to the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) for further review.
