Opposition Leader Mark Golding on Budget 2022/23

Opposition Leader Mark Golding is demanding for more to be done to ease the stress and prioritize Jamaicans by cushioning the impending crisis. He says the 2.75 billion dollars are not enough as he describes it as a drop in the bucket with little to no impact for Jamaicans.

Golding says $2,000 note is a distraction, as it will not help people living from hand to mouth. He calls out the government for lack of communication, for not consulting with the opposition on such a matter that is much bigger than a family decision. Golding labels the move a disrespect. In response, Prime Minister Andrew Holness on a point of order explained that Edward Seaga is on the currency because he deserves to be there. The opposition leader, while accepting his submission, questioned the relevance of the changes with Michael Manley on an existing note.
