Residents of Weise Road in Bull Bay, St Andrew would have likely been spared the worst of tropical storm Ian had it not changed course late Saturday afternoon.

This after the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Cooperation (KSAMC)’s Chief Engineer explained flood mitigation work done from the start of the hurricane season lessened the chance for flooding this time around.

One resident explains she is been a flood victim multiple times over the years.

Meantime, the mayor and his team visited the Duhaney River notorious for overflowing its bank and marooning residents even without a storm.

The team explains that even with their preparatory work to lessen the effects of flooding during the hurricane season, residents ought to be vigilant and evacuate where necessary.
