Parliament on Tuesday approved the extension of Zones of Special Operations (ZOSO) for an additional 60 days in several communities across the country. National Security Minister Dr Horace Chang moved the motion that received the backing of the Opposition. The measure now moves to the Senate for final approval.
Dr. Chang notes there have been significant improvements since the implementation of the ZOSOs and highlighted that all communities recorded a 48 and 55 percent reduction in shootings and murders respectively.
As further amendments to the ZOSO legislation are to be passed, the Opposition says they are welcoming the new amendments. Watch the report below:
