Youth protest violence against women: Several young people stood clad in black, with placards emanating emotions of outrage against the recent crimes of violence against women.
These are a few of the mantras the protesters of the Stand with Women Jamaica shouted in the middle of Half Way Tree, St. Andrew, a rigid stance, in protesting violence against women.
The organizer of the group, Nia Porter could not hold back the tears of frustration in expressing to our news team that the violence against women is overwhelming and the death of Khanice Jackson was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Males who were also part of the group voiced the importance of self control among men and they too stood in support of the movement.
Protesters in tandem called on the government to address the crime within the country, in particular crimes against women.
However, the protest ended abruptly when Deputy Superintendent, Yvette Burgess arrived on the scene and told the protesters that the organizer will be prosecuted if they are not socially distanced.
