Westmoreland’s Unity Primary was in full gear for face-to-face learning on Monday, March 7- as most rural schools were, and just as prepared as those in the corporate area. CVM LIVE was present for the start of the second shift. The principal of the school Dawnett Hall-Beharie says an adequate number of teachers and support staff were present to carry out the day’s duties.
She highlights how teachers play a key component in protocol management; the school host over a thousand students, but Principal Hall-Behari says things went off without a hitch.
Prior to the resumption of classes, the Ministry advised that the “three to six feet” physical distancing condition had been relaxed, allowing for classroom seating to be arranged to reflect the usual spacing of desks and chairs. However with that in mind, there should be increased vigilance and monitoring of the students for mask-wearing, temperature checks, and for any signs of illness.
