Two senior citizens were shot and killed and a teenager injured in the Woodstock District in Claremont, St. Ann, on Wednesday, September 15.

Preliminary reports from the St. Ann police suggest that the gruesome murders stem from a domestic-related incident in the community. Residents are being encouraged to come forward with any information which may lead to solving the murders.

61-year-old Thelma Nembhard, and 68-year-old David Nembhard, were both gunned down on Wednesday while at home. A 19-year-old was also injured in the process, she was taken to a medical facility for treatment.

According to reports, the family was ambushed by two unknown assailants who entered the premises at about 5:40 pm. All three were struck, and the senior citizens died on the scene. CVM Live spoke with the commanding officer for the St. Ann police, Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell.

The latest crime statistics published on The Jamaica Constabulary Force’s, (JCF) website, indicates that murders have increased by 10-point-5 percent. Meanwhile, between January 1 and September 11, 2021, the parish of St. Ann recorded a total of thirty-eight murders, that is nine less murders when compared to the similar period last year.

Superintendent Powell is appealing to persons with information into the gruesome killing of the senior citizens to come forward.
