A man and a woman were shot and killed in two separate incidents in the Flanker, St. James on the night of Monday, July 12.
Police say the fatal shootings occurred just minutes apart and meters away. Dead are 33-year-old Damion Miller, otherwise called Dints, a bar owner of Goat Pen, Flankers in St. James, and 60-year-old Veronica Collins a dressmaker of New Road.
Miller was gunned down by unknown assailants in the community around 11 PM.
Police reports are that he was driving his white Toyota Corolla motor car when he stopped at a section of the community and was attacked by armed men who opened gunfire at him hitting him several times.
The gunmen then left the scene on foot.
While being rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital the vehicle transporting Miller crashed on Pelle Drive. He was then assisted by another motorist to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, the other murder was committed around the same time nearby on New Road in Flankers.
The deceased woman has been identified as 60-year-old Veronica Collins. Collins’ house was shot up by unknown assailants, when the shooting subsided her body was found on the ground.
Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Councilor for the Montego Bay North East Division, Senator Charles Sinclair condemns the murders.
