Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett has announced that the sector is recovering from the losses suffered by the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic. He presented a positive outlook on the revenue the sector will generate, expecting 1 billion dollars by the end of April.

After holding its own through the waves of the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism proves its resilience yet again. Minister Bartlett in his sectoral debate presentation on Tuesday shared that since 2022 visitor numbers have increased. Based on his estimations the tourism season will have raked in just over one billion us dollars

Bartlett asserts that these numbers prove that the tourism sector is the driving force behind Jamaica’s economic recovery from the pandemic.  The sector is further boosted by the level 1 rating provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC); which indicated that visitors have a low chance of contacting COVID-19.
