Tourism expected to increase: Global tourism has been the hardest hit of any economic sector by the COVID-19 pandemic and Jamaica is already on the road to recovery.

The projection is for a 40 percent increase in arrivals over the winter tourist season. Additionally, the major players of the industry are eying 2021 as the year of recovery.

This among other things were discussed during a virtual Private Sector meeting on Wednesday, December 16.

Additionally, Deputy Chairman of Sandals Resorts International, Adam Stewart says Jamaica has the opportunity to experience a major turn-a-round in visitor arrivals and earnings in 2021. He says with travel restrictions implemented worldwide, the marketing of destination Jamaica should be a priority.

John Byles, Executive Director of Chukka Adventures says Jamaica has a strategic advantage of receiving more visitors at this time of the year.
