In keeping with the Government’s vaccination initiative, the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services, (TODSS) today launched a public education and vaccination awareness drive. This as the group notes the importance of being vaccinated while providing public transportation services.

The Transport Operators Development and Sustainable Services met on Tuesday, September 21, to launch a major island-wide public educational and vaccination campaign that aims to have at least 65% of members in the transport sector vaccinated over the next four months.

Head of TODDS, Egerton Newman says it is imperative to be protected as public transport operators. He says the growth in the amount of taxi operators that have been unemployed according to the STATIN report, shows that there has been a deterioration in the sector financially. He added that the best way to achieve some form of normalcy once again is through vaccination and notes that TODSS aims to have around 11 vaccination drives, includes several other stakeholders who are on board to provide support.

And for people who may have health concerns and be hesitant, Mr. Newman is encouraging them to seek health practitioners for the necessary information regarding vaccination.
