Residents in the volatile community of Trench Town, in South St. Andrew, are renewing their call for immediate intervention in the ongoing gang conflict in the area, which has claimed the life of another resident.

The latest victim was Laphane Bent who was shot and killed on Third street while at her establishment, Tuesday morning.

Residents say in recent times women have seemingly become the targets.

Reports from the Denham Town Police are that about 7:55 a.m., 34-year-old bent was sitting in front of her shop when a man approached her and fired several shots, hitting her all over the body.

Bent, a mother of three, was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Residents are questioning the senseless killings in recent times, of which women are most often the victims.

The fatal shooting took place directly across the road from where 16-year-old Damoya Hall and a man was shot and killed on Sunday…

Some residents are of the view that the gunmen are being aided by lawmen and women in the community.

They say only a united community can put a stop to the ongoing conflict among warring factions.
