An undetermined sum of money was stolen in the second Portmore heist; gunmen who were armed with high-power weapons and handguns attacked a Beryllium van in Portmore on Sunday. Three guards attached to the security company were shot and taken to the hospital. A testament of the gunmen’s attack on a van belonging to the security company Beryllium.

As on-lookers crouched for their safety, the gunmen make haste, driving off in their getaway car. When the dust settles, a large pool of blood remains. Senior Superintendent and Head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit, Stephanie Lindsay says the three security guards were shot and rushed to hospital for treatment, and though their injuries are serious, she says they are not life-threatening. The guards were in the process of servicing the ATM machine when they were attacked.

Mere hours after the incident, SSP Lindsay says the police’s investigations already began reaping results. Though the exact number of gunmen involved remains unknown, SSP Lindsay says spent shells found on the scene indicate that there were several.

She also confirmed the assailants made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
