KINGSTON, Jamaica

The Firearm Licensing Authority is once again cautioning prospective applicants against making informal, illicit or ‘back door’ licence arrangements with individuals purporting to be agents of the FLA. This practice is prohibited whether or not it is done in exchange for money or other benefits.

To be approved for a Firearm Licence, an application must first be made at any of the FLA offices islandwide (Kingston, Mandeville or Montego Bay). Following this, due diligence is carried out by the Authority based on investigations, and both local and overseas background checks done in collaboration with our external partners.

We continue to emphasize that no one is authorized to collect money on the FLA’s behalf, except for the Cashier (in exchange for FLA Official Receipt) at any of our offices.

We wish to remind the public that the procedures and regulations in place, are to safeguard you from unscrupulous individuals. We also wish to assure you that anyone found or reported of misrepresenting the Authority’s policies and standards will be dealt with the full force of the Law.
