Teachers in St. Catherine are at their wits end after discovering their NHT and NIS deductions were allegedly not paid over to the institutions.

Innswood High teachers protested their disappointment, Thursday.

The ultimate goal is to have the government resolve the issue. Teachers of the Inswood High School in St. Catherine are restive after discovering that their national housing trust deductions were not paid to the entity. They say this issue dates back 9 years.  The deductions are taken from their monthly salaries.

Mr. Brown, a teacher at the school is giving the ministry of education a maximum of two months to have the issue sorted out. They say they have alerted the ministry of education and the Jamaica teachers association to the issue but have received the runaround.

Until they can dialogue with these entities academic staff representatives to the school board, say they cannot guarantee normalcy. They took to the streets chanting. Staff member Hubert Allen says the problem lies with the Education Ministry.
