Protests erupted across several parishes today following calls by public transport operators for the government to provide a traffic ticket amnesty.

Scores of commuters were left stranded; however, the operators are adamant that they will not rest until the government addresses their concerns. In St Catherine, public transport operators who opted to continue working were intimidated and passengers were ordered out of their motor vehicles.

On the heels of taxi and bus operators’ strike, several stakeholders including members of the united independence congress joined to support the calls for an extended deadline to pay up outstanding traffic tickets.
