Taxi Operators Marched to OPM

On the second day of the all-island strike taxi and bus operators in the corporate area marched to the office of the Prime Minister for a meeting about the traffic ticket amnesty.

The public transport operators planned to raise several proposals; however, their wishes were not granted. They were told to write a formal request seeking permission to have a discussion with the Prime Minister.  Taxi and bus operators on Tuesday, journeyed to the office of the prime minister demanding a response to the traffic ticket amnesty.  Over 30 taxi and bus operators from the corporate area went to settle several issues of concern with the country’s prime minister but were left more frustrated.

Members of the Tancour Union who later visited CVM TV explained that the operators were unable to speak to the prime minister’s secretary and were instead told to write a letter seeking a meeting. Tancour Representative, Courtney Lewis says there is a need for more than just an amnesty, with multiple issues plaguing the sector. Watch the report:
