The Government of Jamaica and the United States are working on addressing several matters related to diplomacy, the economy and regional security. In a press conference earlier at the Office of the Prime Minister, Prime Minister Andrew Holness and the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo affirmed their commitment to partner while stating that there are no intentions to divide CARICOM.

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Jamaica on Tuesday evening amidst controversial statements about the us moving to divide CARICOM. However, the secretary of State and Prime Minister Andrew Holness dismissed the rumours.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also addressed matters related to Venezuela, noting that securing regional ports and combating transnational crime were top priorities. He says the US has invested 1 billion dollars in energy in Jamaica and is working on ensuring that agreements made are in line with best practices.
