The Government remains on track to improve the housing condition of Jamaica’s indigent population.

The latest family to receive a new place of abode under the new social housing programme is a family in north central St. Andrew, Karl Samuda’s constituency. Henry Dwyer and his family will no longer have to endure the unease of living in a deplorable condition. On Wednesday, the family was handed the keys to their new home; a three-bedroom unit in Donmair Close, St. Andrew North Central, built at a cost of $6.1 million in approximately 2 months.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness while speaking at the handover ceremony says the new social housing programme will be expanded to provide more houses to indigent Jamaicans.

He notes that his appeal for private sector support hasn’t fallen on deaf ears. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Holness implored the beneficiary to be an ambassador for the hope programme and a model citizen.
