An item of clothing believed to belong to the nine year old who was swept away by flood water has been found.

This is according to caretaker of the August Town division, Venesha Phillips. She says residents have been searching tirelessly for his body but have found nothing.

According to her, the search was called off on Wednesday due to visibility issues and lack of sufficient equipment.

On Thursday, residents along with representatives from the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation were seen scouring through the gully in the community hoping to find his body. His family who had been part of the search earlier retired to their home, hoping to get some news from the search party.

A friend who was with Kyle Richards at the time of the accident told our news team that he had slipped and hit his head in the culvert before he was swept away by waters. She appeared to be traumatised by the incident.

She led our newsteam to the family’s home but they declined to speak about the matter.

Residents disclosed to our team that the heavy rains had led to rising water levels in the gully. She says many are hoping to find his body before it rains again.
