The longstanding challenge of limited nurses in the local health sector has forced several medical institutions to seek help from Cuba. The decision to cement a relationship with Cuba is expected to provide quality medical care for patients.

Acting CEO of the University Hospital of the West Indies, Fitz Mitchell says as the hospital battles with limited healthcare workers they now depend on Cuba for healthcare professionals. During a recent meeting at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston, Senior Medical Officer at the Kingston Public Hospital, Dr Natalie Whylie says Jamaica’s decision to partner with Cuba will provide much-needed assistance in the sector.
