The debate on the new Firearms Act was not without opposition from former Security Minister Peter Bunting who questioned the rationale behind allegedly refusing a policeman a gun license. His allegations were however countered by Government Senator Matthew Samuda.

Bunting claims the reason was linked to the lawman’s home address.

However, there was a turn of events on Friday’s Senate Debate, where government senator, Matthew Samuda, explains the denial was not in relation to the address alone. Adding the then Minister did not amend the keep and care policy of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) that was changed back in 2011.  He says Senator bunting amended a clause that he found interesting.
