President of the Small Business Association of Jamaica (SBAJ) Michael Leckie says the challenges for 2022 were both positive and negative for small business operators, amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The SBAJ President also notes most small businesses not only stuck to their core operation but also pivoted into other areas of production. He also highlighted support was provided by the government to help some businesses stay afloat. Another fact he pointed out was the emergence of online businesses.

In addition to small businesses creating alternative avenues of income, the SBAJ boss says the States of Public Emergencies also affected businesses. In the meantime, while the inflation rate has been in the double-digit region, he is looking at the economy in 2023 with caution.
