Crowd control was also a major issue in St.Ann, as members of the Jamaica Defense Force, (JDF) had to be called in to restore order in Ocho Rios at the Turtle River Park vaccination drive.
Unruly behaviour marred the vaccination process at the blitz site in St.Ann on Tuesday, September 14. A rowdy crowd gathered at the gate in an attempt to gain access to the premises.
The man that was accosted was taken into police custody. It is reported that a woman told him that he was standing too close to her. It is alleged he then launched an attack on the woman, kicking her and hitting her in the head.
Superintendent David White in charge of area two says it was a difficult task for law enforcement. He notes that up on arrival there was a lot of chaotic behaviour. Members of the Jamaica Defense Force led by Corporal Garth Biggs assisted in diffusing the situation.
One person at the site was enraged at the fact that older persons were now taking this time to get vaccinated when they have had the chance in the past and believe they are making it difficult for the children. CVM Live understands that four to five people collapsed and had to receive medical attention and was informed that over 1,500 people were vaccinated up to 5pm.
