Roughly 20 Contacts of Monkeypox Patients in Home Quarantine

Approximately 20 contacts of two of the country’s confirmed Monkeypox cases are in home quarantine. Jamaica has three confirmed cases of the virus, two of which are imported and one locally acquired. Chairman of the Southern Regional Health Authority Wayne Chen tells CVM LIVE the roughly 20 contacts in-home quarantine are associated with the country’s second and third confirmed Monkeypox cases. The latest patient is the country’s first locally-acquired case. He says all the contacts associated with Jamaica’s first confirmed case of the virus have left home quarantine, adding that they were tested on a regular basis. 

Wayne Chen notes that the patient was released from isolation at the Maypen Hospital on July 26. The man had presented to the public health system on July 5, having arrived from the United Kingdom five days earlier. Watch the report:
