The absence of street lights on several main roads in Jamaica has been a longstanding issue. Few of the reasons for inadequate street lights are ranging from poor maintenance to criminal activities.

Several corporate area stakeholders are now calling on the authorities to address the issue, as it poses a threat to lives and livelihoods. Residents of Bull Bay in St Andrew are calling on the authorities to repair and replace street lights in the area. 

Director of Corporate Communications at the JPS, Winsome Callum says some of the lights are not the company’s responsibility, however, she says there is a maintenance process underway to replace the ones they are responsible for. Watch the report below:
