Highlighting the importance of road safety for sustainable development has been earmarked as a focus area for this year’s Labour Day activities and while there has been a coincidental decline in the number of road fatalities this year compared to last year, the National Road Safety Council remains open to feedback on the latest Road Traffic Act as the nation observes Road Safety Week, Minister Floyd Green indicated that 17 fewer lives had been lost on the nation’s roads, so far this year, compared to last. A decrease of almost 10%. And while it is tempting to attribute the improvements to the passage of the new road traffic act, green remained circumspect. Watch the report:
