Mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams, has announced plans to reopen the Red Rose Fish Market in Downtown Kingston and other markets that were closed due to rising COVID-19 infections in recent months.

At the meeting of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation recently, Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams declared satisfying news for fish vendors of the Red Rose Fish market. Williams says the market is scheduled to reopen before the beginning of the festive season.

He notes that final touches are currently ongoing and added that he have met wit the fish vendors recently to speak with the about the expected use of the market and its proper upkeep. The Mayor states that the market is likely to open in the coming week.

Williams lauded the fish vendors for their patience, noting their cooperation and orderly behavior despite being dislocated for an extended time. He noted that a car park has been added to encourage the flow of customers to the market, with adequate and parking space. He added that he hopes this will be a prosperous start for the fish vendors. Meanwhile, the Mayor says there are schemes initiated to refurbish other markets.
